What a rational man like Aquinas interprets Christianity as being, and what Jesus says and does, are two very different things. Getting angry with a fig tree for not bearing fruit, ordering his disciples to bring before him those that will not submit to his rule for execution, stealing a mule (or was it an ass?), driving businessmen from synagogue with a whip, etc. The Jesus of the "Good Word" and the Jesus of the Christian apologists can hardly be called the same person with credibility. Go read some St. Augustine and other Christian philsophers (i.e. Aquinas) and you'll see the Christian philosophical argument is compelling.
