A post-modern non-religious panzee’s view (part 2)

Like science, atheists can’t explain miracles.
I know that I once sounded almost like an uber Atheist last year.
Almost. That was then.
I’m an agnostic. An apathetic agnostic. I just don’t care.

For humour’s sake, if you really want me to believe, I’ll be a deist. Then, I’ll say that miracles are random spasms of half-arsed creations, whatever they may be. Those creations are unfinished. That’s why we can’t see them.
I would never forget Philosophy 101. It was the best class I ever had. Ever. It dealt with the fundamental issues of humankind. It was life’s wisdom. Religion was only an interpreter of philosophy.
Ever wondered why philosophy and the social sciences were never welcomed in your Malaysian society?
Because:
- They deal with the human mind.
- The human mind is the most difficult subject of study.
- Stupidity runs the world.
By the way, stupidity is inclusive of laziness (no progression, no survival, stupid.) and ignorance.
Ignorance is not bliss. Innocence is.
I would like to elaborate on my current take on religion. Don’t worry. I won’t preach. Just another honest observation.
Funny how it took me a long time to realize this:
Religion is not necessarily blind faith.
Remember how monotheistic believers would tell you that their religion is not a religion but a relationship with God? I have to admit that they’re right. Religion is exactly like a relationship. It’s personal.<
And hard to understand unless you have experienced it before.
So, try telling a non-believer that there is such a thing as God. It’ll be the same as telling a person who never had romantic feelings before, about your latest crush. It’ll be the same as telling a heterosexual that homosexuality is not a choice and is an emotional matter. It’ll also be the same as telling a non-mutant that having mutated powers is not a disease (think X-Men III).
Also, if you say that God is the creator of the universe, then (S)He must have created atheists, agnostics, and all other humanistic religions like Buddhism and Daoism.
In other words, to all you religious fundies, kindly stop feeding me with your fucking annoying evangelism crap. Let your God decide whether to convert me or not. I think God would appreciate you not taking over their job.
Still wanna persist?
I guess I’ll just see you in Hell then.
Or in Heaven. When your God decides that I’m too awesome for somewhere cramped with annoying fucks like you.
O: )
If I ever had a religion, it would be called Logic, Reason, and Love. Contradictory, it may be, but it keeps the world going round.

Ditto, i’ve always believe philosophy is a basis for most religions where its something more of a personal relationship rather than a community. If people form a community or a club, it simply means there is division between people, either you join the club or you don’t. The idea of a religious community alone is contradictorily wrong to the philosophy idea of religion.
But I disagree with your take on stupidity. Stupidity’s not always a bad thing. There’s 2 sides, the stupid side and the intelligent side. If youre being on one side (eg. intelligent side), ure no different from the people who have conflicts with the other side (eg. religious preachers). So, i don’t believe in judging people into categories. Besides, everyone becomes stupid first before becoming intelligent. Its all inter-related.

stupidity
n 1: a poor ability to understand or to profit from experience [ant: intelligence] 2: a stupid mistake [syn: betise, folly, foolishness, imbecility]

Clearly, you did not have a clear idea on what stupidity is. Stupid people rarely become intelligent, btw. It’s never an easy process for the truly stupid ones. A famous example is evidently our beloved Darth Vader in the White House.
Also, I’m not very understanding of this point of yours:
“If youre being on one side (eg. intelligent side), ure no different from the people who have conflicts with the other side (eg. religious preachers).”
Posted 2 years agoI’m not fixatedly on any sides btw. I don’t see the relation with intelligence in this…side-taking argument. Everyone should have the freedom of choice.
I bit 3 bullets and took 2 direct hits :p
anyways, I read both of your posts, and they made me question myself. lol
I guess religion is a personal thing. Even though it is my job to spread the word and such, I don’t do it because people don’t like listening to stuff about religion..and I agree with what you said- “Let your God decide whether to convert me or not.”
and i think your last sentence should be “but it keeps the world going round”
bodicea: Noted. Thanks.
