I must be cursed. I’m compelled to face stupidity almost all the time.

Yesterday, I went to Giant Mall to get some funky marshmallows for a Christmas Eve barbecue.

Now, I did not know exactly what category marshmallows belong to but I know that they’re some kind of candy. To cut the chase short, I asked almost all the promoters and stock suppliers I see where I can locate the scrumptious food. Almost all of those I asked said: “Tak tau.” (Don’t know) or “Apa tu mushmelow?” (What is “mushmelow”?) or directed me to 3 aisles of the wrong food catergory.

Me: “Kak, tumpang tanye, di mane saye boleh cari ‘marshmallow’?” (’Scuse me, where can find mushmelows ah?)
Kak: “Oh, saye tau. Awak nak yang ‘frozen’ ke, yang paket ke, tau pun yang tin punye?” (Oh I no. You wan frozen wan, packet wan or tin wan?)
Me: “…Uh, tak pe lah..” (Uh, nevermind lah.)
Kak: “OH, awak nak Milo, ye?” (OH, you wan Milo issit?)

Finally, after 20 minutes, a rare knowledgeable one directed me to the right path…

And I saw a pretty good bargain…

…and when I looked up…

…I saw the reason almost nobody knew what a marshmallow was.
